|Question: Should I pay $35 for a domain name or find it cheaper?
There are no standard prices for new domain names. Basically any company can set their own price.
What you need to be aware of are that many of the discount domain registration services are not full service. They only reserve or "park" the name for you.
When you are ready to have your site designed and hosted you will find that they do not provide the necessary name servers, or they do not offer online access to your domain name to be able to set up the hosting records, and they have no live support. You must deal with them through email only.
What often times happens is that you have to transfer your domain to another company that provides the necessary servicse. This will cost you time and more money in the long run than if you would have used a full service registration company up front.
We suggest using either www.register.com or www.networksolutions.com. Just register the domain name. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR HOSTING.
